Rather than charging a room hire fee, we simply agree a minimum spend over the bar based on the day of the week, the number of guests attending, and the areas of the venue you'd like to reserve.

  • Becketts Townhouse enjoys a great location on Bellevue Terrace, one of Southsea’s main routes in and out of the city, making it easy to reach however your guests choose to travel.

    We’re within easy walking distance of Portsmouth & Southsea train station, while nearby The Hard Interchange is the final stop for mainline rail services and a hub for local and national buses, coaches and the Gosport Ferry.

    Many of Portsmouth’s best-known attractions are just a short stroll away, including Gunwharf Quays and the Isle of Wight Hovercraft terminal, which is around 10 minutes on foot.

    Getting around couldn’t be easier. There’s plenty of on-street parking nearby, a bus stop right outside the building, and a Voi e-scooter station just across the road. Local taxi drivers know us well too, making the journey home quick and hassle-free.

Your Questions, Answered

  • We offer free private venue hire, subject to minimum bar spend requirements. Contact our team to discuss your event and preferred dates. 

  • Our standard celebration times are: 

    • Daytime celebrations: 12:00pm – 4:00pm 

    • Evening celebrations: 7:00pm – Midnight 

    If you're looking for different timings, please speak to the Becketts team. We'll always do our best to accomodate.

  • Our minimum bar spend replaces a traditional venue hire fee, allowing you to enjoy exclusive use of your chosen celebration space at no hire cost. 

    In the unlikely event that your group doesn't reach the agreed minimum spend, you'll simply be asked to pay the difference before leaving the venue. Any deposit you've paid will be deducted from the outstanding balance. 

    Please note: The minimum bar spend applies to drinks purchased at the bar only. Optional extras, including catering, DJs, venue décor and other add-ons, do not count towards the minimum bar spend. 

  • Yes. We have 8 beautiful en-suite boutique bedrooms available and offer discounted pricing for direct bookings for you and your guests. 

  • Absolutely. We regularly host birthdays, engagement parties, wedding celebrations, corporate events, baby showers and celebration of life gatherings.

  • We highly recommend that you book our trusted local DJs and entertainers who know our venue well, use professional equipment and will help make your celebration one to remember. You are also welcome to arrange your own DJ or live entertainment but this is subject to our strict venue guidelines.  Your chosen performers will need to bring all of their own equipment and have Public Liability insurance.    

  • Yes. We offer a selection of catering options to complement your celebration, including grazing buffets and hot fork buffet menus (subject to minimum guest numbers). To ensure the quality and smooth running of your event, we do not permit external catering. The only exception is a celebration cake, which you are very welcome to bring along.  

  • Yes. We encourage you to personalise the space to suit your celebration. You're welcome to bring balloons, table decorations and other decorative touches. If you're planning something more elaborate, just let us know in advance so we can advise on what works best in the venue and help ensure everything is ready for your arrival. 

  • Absolutely. You're welcome to bring your own celebration cake. We'll provide a cake knife for cutting. If you'd like to serve the cake to your guests, we ask that you also bring napkins and any disposable plates you may need. If you have any special requests, just let us know when booking and we'll do our best to help.

  • Popular dates can book quickly, so we recommend enquiring as early as possible to secure your preferred date.

  • Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. We're here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and keep things moving.

  • Yes. Children are welcome at private celebrations when included as part of your booking. Whether you're hosting a birthday party, baby shower or family gathering, we'll work with you to create a welcoming environment for guests of all ages.

  • There is on-street parking available near Becketts Townhouse, along with several public car parks within easy walking distance. If you or your guests are staying overnight in one of our boutique bedrooms, we're happy to recommend the most convenient parking options before your visit.
