Set within two beautifully restored Grade II listed Georgian townhouses in the heart of Southsea, Becketts Townhouse is a destination unlike any other.

Following an award-winning two-year restoration, these 200-year-old buildings were carefully brought back to life, earning the prestigious Portsmouth Society Award for Best Restoration and preserving an important piece of local heritage.
Becketts re-opened in 2016 and quickly took its place as a local’s favourite offering premium casual dining in the vibrant restaurant and bar. Travellers from further afield fell in love with the 6 very high-end design-led en-suite boutique bedrooms. The business flourished and won multiples awards and accolades.
Sadly however, the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic combined spiralling costs with severe experienced staff shortages, forcing a direction change for the business. Having subsequently also suffered a disastrous flood that wiped out the commercial kitchen, the difficult decision was made in July 2023 to close the restaurant.
What remained abundantly clear however was our customer’s determination to continue celebrating life’s special occasions at Becketts. As a business, we listened, we evolved and we adapted. A tweak in branding to Becketts Townhouse became the start of a new journey under the guidance and leadership of Jodie Coles who brought a wealth of experience following a very successful career at Adidas.
The kitchen was transformed into the Vault Party Room offering a modern twist on a speak easy with LED backlit stone panels, a new sound system with full DJ set-up and a professional standard bespoke photo booth. The Vault is the perfect space for intimate partying with close friends and family.
The restaurant was converted into 2 additional luxury boutique bedrooms. The Mews Rooms offer an alternative experience to our established Townhouse accommodation, both enjoying exceptionally high levels of interior fit out.
While much has changed over the years, one thing remains the same: Becketts has always been a place where people come together. Whether you're joining us for a boutique stay, celebrating a milestone occasion or simply enjoying cocktails with friends, our aim is to create experiences that feel personal, welcoming and memorable.
